Single Mother

Conceiving a child is a gift but what are the thoughts of those mothers who will raise the child alone? Single mothers are common these days and are already accepted by our society. Unlike before, women with no husband are judged prematurely. Eyebrows rose, people did not understand that it is not only the woman’s fault she got herself pregnant, that man are also responsible for the unplanned conception.

Women should look out for themselves first before they can decide that they are ready to look after a child’s welfare. It is not fair to bear a child with a vague future. How can you raise one when all you care are your needs? Crying over spilled milk will not turn back the time; all you have to do is just accept the fact that you are carrying the baby that will depend so much on you.

Those who cannot afford to take care of a child will leave it to the orphanage to search for families that will be willing adopt a baby. But mothers who are strong enough to face responsibility will raise the child alone hoping that they can make up for their actions.

There are a lot of single mothers nowadays, with no help from the baby’s father, would work their heart out and even do two or more job to cover up their expenses. Their instinct as a mother is guiding them to bring out the best for the child. It is not simple to be both a parent to your child. They may not realize this now, but as soon as they will grow up and understand how you work hard for them, they would appreciate all your efforts and your being responsible for them and pay you back for being a good parent by being a good son or daughter.

The GED Essay Test: Understand the Essay, Improve the Score

If you’re planning to take the GED Test soon, it’s essential to understand the essay section since many test candidates find it one of the most difficult aspects of the language arts exam. Understanding what this part of the GED test expects — and how it’s scored — is an excellent way to reduce test difficulty, test anxiety and improve the score.

The GED, the common term for the General Education Development credential, is the adult’s alternative to a high school diploma. The GED credential is awarded after passing tests in science, social studies, math, and reading and writing, or language arts.

Most of the GED test is multiple-choice. But part of the language arts writing test requires the candidate to write an original essay, based on a provided prompt. The essay will need to make an explanation or present a point of view. Two pages are provided for the essay, but there’s no requirement that all the space is used. Still, at least 200 words are recommended.

Timing for the test is flexible. A total of 120 minutes is allowed for both parts of this language arts exam, with 75 minutes slotted for the 50 questions in part one and 45 minutes slotted for the essay test. However, GED candidates who finish the first part in less time can devote the remaining time to the second part. Or, if more time is needed for the first section and less for the second, a candidate may use remaining time from the essay and return to the multiple-choice section of the writing test.

The essay is scored on a 4-point scale, and scored by two trained GED essay readers.

The two GED readers’ scores are averaged. If the essay receives a score of 2 or higher, the essay score is combined with the language arts multiple-choice score to form a composite. If a GED candidate receives a score of 1 or 1.5 on the essay, there’s no composite score, and the candidate must retake both the essay and multiple-choice portion of the test.

GED essay readers may not be more than one point apart in their scoring. In those cases where the readers are more than one point apart, the chief reader for the GED scoring site will set the score by agreeing with the reader whose score follows the GED Testing Service scale.

Individual essay scores are not reported, but the score accounts for 35 percent of the test.

Essay scoring is based on five areas, and measures the overall impression of the essay:

1. Does the paper respond to the assigned prompt–did the candidate use the topic on the test, and remain on-topic?

2. Can the reader see or follow an organized plan for development?

3. Are there specific and relevant details to support the paper’s focus? 4. Are the conventions of language (grammar, usage, and mechanics) generally followed? 5. Is the word choice precise, varied, and appropriate?

Here’s a simple way to understand these five requirements. The essay is scored on organization, essay focus to the prompt and how well the ideas are developed and supported. The essay is also scored on appropriate English mechanics such as grammar, punctuation, along with word choice and sentence structure.

However, the most important measure is organization, focus to the main prompt, and idea development.

Prompts differ from test to test, cover topics of general interest and are not released in advance of the test. Here’s an example of a prompt:

‘What is your most important reason for obtaining the GED credential? How do you think it will help you achieve a goal in the next year? In your essay, identify your most important reason for obtaining the GED and the most important goal you plan to achieve with it. Explain your point of view and support your goal, using your own experience, background and knowledge to support your essay.’

So, what’s the best way to prepare for the essay test? Practice. To best prepare, practice writing two-page essays in the 45-minute time period. Ask for critique and guidance to determine how well your essays are organized, focus on a particular subject and explore ideas that support your main topic. You’ll also want to know that your grammar and use of English mechanics are sound.

Student - Teacher, Learning Contract

The purpose of this agreement is to insure the student and teacher understand their responsibilities towards each other and the class as a whole, in regards to facilitating the optimum learning environment, inside and outside the classroom.

Legality: This agreement is a morally binding, bilateral contract. It is not intended that this be a legally binding agreement.

Definitions: * _____________________School; hereinafter referred to as; the school, means the person whos signature appears on this agreement in relation to the heading, ‘__________________ School’ or a senior employee duly appointed be the same. * The Teacher; hereinafter referred to as ‘the teacher’, means the person whos signature appears on this agreement in relation to the heading, ‘The Teacher’. * The Student; hereinafter referred to as ‘the student’, means the person whos signature appears on this agreement in relation to the heading, ‘The Student’. * The Parent; For the purpose of this agreement ‘the parent’ means the legal guardian of ‘the student’ as referred too above, in this agreement. Always start and finish classes on time, when possible 4. Provide the best preparation possible for exams 5. Be aware of the student’s comprehension of the tasks given and not to criticize lack of comprehension 6. Facilitate the best possible learning environment for the student 7. Always be fair in the application of the school’s disciplinary policy 8. Be open to suggestions in regards to the application of this contract, from all parties named in this agreement 9. Provide home work in quantity and content the will challenge the student and encourage him/her to improve their proficiency in the subject being taught 10. Not to discuss personal details about the student without his/her consent, with parties not named in this agreement

The student agrees to do the following:

1. Always respect the Teacher 2. Have faith in the belief that the lessons being taught by the teacher are relevant to the subject and the students needs 3. Strive to understand the instructions given by the teacher, by listening and asking questions,(raise hand) if the instructions aren’t understood 4. Always be prepared to start and finish class on time 5. To assist the teacher in providing the best possible learning environment for the student and the class as a whole 6. Except suggestions for improvement from the teacher, knowing that they are given in order to assistthe student with learning 7. Make every effort possible to complete home work and all assignments given to the student 8. To except any discipline given to the student by the teacher, providing it is within the guidelines as set out in the schools disciplinary procedures. 9. Prepare as thoroughly as possible for exams 10. To discuss matters concerning the teacher, only with the parties named in this agreement

Disputes: All parties have the right to dispute this agreement. In the event that any party within this agreement wishes to dispute any part of this agreement or the application of it. Diamond Cut - How Does Yours Shape Up?

When one hears of diamond cut they usually think of the different kinds of diamond shapes they’ve seen in jewelry, the princess, the round and so on. In the world of diamond grading diamond cut refers to something else. It refers to how well a jeweler has cut the diamond to achieve maximum carat size and brilliance, or the millions of glittering sparkles you can see when you turn your diamond in the light. Poorly cut diamonds will often sell at a cheaper rate than the better cut. Interestingly ninety five percent of diamonds aren’t cut for optimum brilliance. There are four factors involved in the diamond cut, proportion, finish, symmetry and polish.

The proportions of the cut have to do with the table percentage compared to the depth percentage. The table is the flat surface on the top of each kind of diamond cut, while the depth has to do with the width of the diamond from top to bottom. A good table to depth ratio will allow all light entering the diamond to be reflected back through the surface.

The symmetry of a diamond is how well the facets of a diamond match up. If the facets don’t match then light entering the diamond will leak out the sides and not be properly reflected to the surface. The classifications of symmetry are the same as for polish.

The polish of a diamond refers to how finely polished the surface is to make it very reflective. Diamonds are the hardest materials on earth and they must be polished using diamond grit, so the process is time consuming. The grades for polish range from Ideal to Excellent, Very good, Good, Poor and Fair.

As long as the adverse action is based on reasonable factors other than age. In Meacham Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory was planning to lay off a number of employees. It then used those totals to decide who to lay off. Twenty-eight of those 24 employees sued under the ADEA claiming Knolls illegally fired them because of their age. The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit initially affirmed the jurys findings but after the United States Supreme Court asked it to reconsider the Second Circuit reversed itself and ruled in favor of Knolls. For example it would not be illegal to consider criteria for a particular role in a movie that has a disparate impact on age if the part calls for someone of a particular age. At the trial a jury found Knolls had violated the ADEA because its layoff procedure had a disparate impact based on age. The company had its supervisors rate their subordinates based on their performance flexibility and critical skills. The Supreme Court has previously recognized that the employer has the burden to establish the BFOQ affirmative defense. The Supreme Court ruled that if an employer seeks to rely on that defense. The BFOQ defense states that it is not unlawful for an employer to take adverse employment actions otherwise prohibited by the ADEA where age is a bona fide occupational qualification reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the particular business. Knolls totaled those scores and gave the employees additional points based on their years of service. The Supreme Court then agreed to hear the case and eventually reversed the Second Circuit and reinstated the jurys finding that Knolls policy unlawfully discriminated because of age. In other words the ADEA permits employers to discriminate based on age considering age is legitimately necessary under the circumstances. Specifically the jury found that although the plaintiffs did not prove that Knolls intentionally discriminated against them they did prove that Knolls method of deciding who to lay off disproportionately harmed older workers. Thirty of the 22 salaried employees the company laid off were at least 25 years old.

#3 - Google will Tell You What It Knows with Web Page Information

If you type info:yoursite.com into Google, Google will tell show you a page that has your link at the top of the page, with a short description, and the following phrase “Google can show you the following information for this URL”.

Many of us have been told that a college degree is necessary in order to land a satisfying career that has a good salary. However, while experts agree that most careers do require postsecondary training or education, statistics show that only a small percentage of jobs will demand a bachelor’s or professional degree. If you are undecided about whether or not attending a four-year college is right for you, what is a reasonable alternative?

A great option to a four-year college is a vocational training program. Vocational training programs offer specialized instruction to help students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a specific job. In addition, these programs often have small class sizes — which allow for one-on-one communication with the instructor — and are completed in a much shorter timeframe. On the front and back end, vocational training is much lower in costs than college tuition. Today, the average price of a four-year college is somewhere around $15,000 per year; while a vocational training institution averages 60-80% less. And the costs don’t end at graduation either. Many college students end up paying back hefty loans that they had to use in order to pay for school - before they even land a job!

In short, it is important to understand now what your choices are for postsecondary education. A great part of graduating high school and becoming a responsible adult is learning to make the decisions that are right for you. This can take some time to submit your site to the providers that you feel are worthy of including your web site in their database. There are two types of search engines that you will want to utilize in doing your submissions. The first of the two are the free search engines and directories. These sites will except your web site and may even list it at the top of their listings for a short time, until the web page moves down the list by the thousands of other web sites submitted. Most search engines and directories have a free submission process and are easy to submit your site. Some may request a fee after you have entered your site to their service to keep it on their database. If you receive this e-mail do not pay for this service. To submit you web site there are many places that you can go on the Internet and buy programs to submit to thousands of search engines. Two of these programs can be found at www.godaddy.com (traffic blazer) and www.coffeecup.com (submit fire). Both of these programs will help you submit to thousands of search engines. If you do not wish to pay for the service you can go to www.webmastertechniques.com and enter the words (searchengines.html). Here you will find a list of search engines and directories to manually submit your site.

The second type of search engine is the pay per click service providers. This is a service that you will wish to pay for to receive. Some of the biggest and best search engines offer this service and will allow you to create an account. This is not the same account that you have used to submit your web site. Two of the pay per click search engines that you will want to create an account with are www.overture.com and www.google.com. These are two of the biggest and widest known search engines. They are also third party suppliers for other search engines like www.msn.com, www.askjeeves.com, and www.aol.com. This means that if you pay the highest bid to be in the top position on www.overture.com or www.google.com you will also be the top positions on some of the other search engines. The top position is not the position you want to be for reasons that really do not make much since. The best way to place your ad in a position is to look for the gap. If the highest bid is 89 cents and the following bids are 82 cents, 72 cents and 39 cents place your ad in at the bid of 40 cents. This puts your ad right in above the gap. There are many ways to pick the keywords that you will use to generate you ad. There are companies that will sell you a number of hits for price. This is like taking your money and stacking it up, then with a can of gasoline dumping just enough fuel on it to burn every dollar. Most of these companies use pop up to offer the user a look at your page and we all know what we do when we see a pop up window. That’s right the big X in the corner. Don’t get me wrong! There is a time and a type of page that this would be useful. If your site offers jokes or graphics to its users then using untargeted traffic will work great. That is if your site can catch attention for long enough to keep them interested in what you have to offer. Targeted traffic can be used for the same type of pages but make sure that you can catch the users attention with your graphic layout. Offering free e-books, wallpapers and graphics will help to get their interest. I am not going to say that targeted and untargeted traffic will not work in the form of a pop up but if you try this method once or twice with no response you can save some money by marking it off your list of things to do. Link exchanges and traffic exchanges offer a toolbar view of page with a 20 or 30 second counter to count the seconds until you can go on to the next page. If you have a product that will only be shipped to the United States then it would not help to buy a text link on a site with all Asian users. Here are two of the places on the Internet I have found to buy text links www.adbrite.com and www.textlinkbrokers.com.

There are a few methods to create links on the Internet that I would not recommend. The uses of free for all blaster are NOT recommended. Free for all blaster are a type of program that you can download for a price from sites on the Internet and run as a service on your computer. This type of program promises to add your link or ad to thousands of web pages, classified ad pages and forums or blogs. This type of program is used as a way to harvest e-mail address and create a window for hundreds of e-mail marketing campaigns. They will create links on the Internet but you may get a lot of spam in your inbox.
